Fé Sem Fronteiras em Tavira
A Paróquia de Tavira e o Setor da Pastoral do Turismo da Diocese do Algarve acabam de anunciar, pelo segundo ano consecutivo, um programa de celebrações da Semana Santa totalmente em língua inglesa, a decorrer na emblemática Igreja de Santiago.
Mais do que um evento religioso, esta iniciativa assume-se como um manifesto de acolhimento social e cultural, desenhado para unir residentes estrangeiros, turistas e a crescente vaga de imigrantes de países tão diversos como a Índia e a Polónia.
O Padre Miguel Lopes Neto, responsável diocesano pela Pastoral do Turismo e Diretor da Pastoral do Turismo – Portugal (organismo da Conferência Episcopal Portuguesa), sublinha a urgência e a profundidade social deste projeto:
"Esta iniciativa insere-se no compromisso pastoral da Igreja Católica no Algarve, de acolher e integrar as diversas comunidades linguísticas presentes na região, proporcionando-lhes a oportunidade de celebrar a sua fé na própria língua. Mas vai muito além disso: é um trabalho vital para a integração das comunidades imigrantes. É um esforço ativo para facilitar a integração e quebrar o desconhecimento e o preconceito que ainda existem sobre e entre imigrantes."
Numa região onde a demografia tem mudado a um ritmo acelerado, a Igreja algarvia posiciona-se na linha da frente da coesão social, utilizando a língua inglesa não como idioma exclusivo de turistas, mas como a verdadeira "língua franca" que derruba muros, une nações e constrói pontes de fraternidade.

27 de Março (Sexta-feira): 16h00 às 18h00 – Confissões
29 de Março (Domingo de Ramos): 10h15 – Missa de Domingo de Ramos, com início marcado pela bênção dos ramos à porta da igreja
2 de Abril (Quinta-feira Santa): 18h00 – Missa da Ceia do Senhor
3 de Abril (Sexta-feira Santa): 17h00 – Celebração da Paixão do Senhor
5 de Abril (Domingo de Páscoa): 10h15 – Missa da Ressurreição

Algarve Church transforms Holy Week into an epicenter of multicultural integration and the fight against prejudice.
The Parish of Tavira and the Pastoral Sector for Tourism of the Diocese of Algarve have just announced, for the second consecutive year, a program of Holy Week celebrations held entirely in English, taking place at the emblematic Church of Santiago.
More than a religious event, this initiative stands as a manifesto of social and cultural welcome, designed to unite foreign residents, tourists, and the growing wave of immigrants from countries as diverse as India and Poland.
Father Miguel Lopes Neto, diocesan head of the Pastoral for Tourism and Director of Pastoral for Tourism – Portugal (an organization of the Portuguese Episcopal Conference), emphasizes the urgency and social depth of this project:
"This initiative is part of the Catholic Church's pastoral commitment in the Algarve to welcome and integrate the various linguistic communities present in the region, providing them with the opportunity to celebrate their faith in their own language. But it goes far beyond that: it is vital work for the integration of immigrant communities. It is an active effort to facilitate integration and break down the ignorance and prejudice that still exist about and among immigrants."
In a region where demographics have been changing at an accelerated pace, the Algarve Church positions itself at the forefront of social cohesion, using the English language not as an exclusive language for tourists, but as the true "lingua franca" that breaks down walls, unites nations, and builds bridges of fraternity.

March 27th (Friday): 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM – Confessions
March 29th (Palm Sunday): 10:15 AM – Palm Sunday Mass, beginning with the blessing of palms at the church door
April 2nd (Holy Thursday): 6:00 PM – Mass of the Lord's Supper
April 3rd (Good Friday): 5:00 PM – Celebration of the Lord's Passion
April 5th (Easter Sunday): 10:15 AM – Resurrection Mass
